Accounting and Taxation in Melbourne CBD

City clients arrive with a different set of problems to suburban ones. A salaried professional on a good income now has employee share scheme statements, a managed fund portfolio, a rental property and a HECS balance interacting in ways nobody explained. A consultant has left a firm and is contracting through a company, without being sure whether the personal services income rules apply to them. An agency or a hospitality operator a few streets away is managing casual rosters, penalty rates and a BAS cycle while the landlord reviews the rent.

None of that is unusual, but it does need someone who has seen it before. We work through the whole position rather than the parts that happen to be on the payment summary, which is where the avoidable cost usually sits. Being on Flinders Street means an appointment can happen at half past eight or after five without anyone crossing town, and most city clients do exactly that. The rest send everything through the portal and take the review by video between meetings.

From a complex personal return to a company with staff.

Your Accountant in Melbourne CBD, On Flinders Street

We are in Suite 16 on Level 7 at 276 Flinders Street, directly opposite Flinders Street Station and a short walk from Degraves Street. For most city clients that means an appointment fits into the start or end of a working day without a car being involved at all.
Documents can go through the secure portal, and reviews run by phone or video where a meeting is not worth the diary space. The office is there when a conversation is easier in person, which tends to be the structure discussions rather than the annual return.

Common questions

Common Questions From Melbourne CBD Clients

Where exactly is your city office?

Suite 16, Level 7, 276 Flinders Street, opposite Flinders Street Station. It is a working office, not a meeting room hired by the hour, and you can book a time there the same as at our Kew or Hoppers Crossing offices.

That is how most city clients use this office. Tell us what suits and we will work around it. If even that is difficult, the whole engagement can run through the portal with a video review at a time you choose.

It depends on whether the personal services income rules apply to you, and a lot of contractors have never had that tested properly. If most of your income comes from your own skills and one main client, a company may not deliver the result you were told it would. We check the position first and tell you either way.

You are in good company. ESS reporting is one of the most commonly misread documents we see in the city. The taxing point, the discount amount and the cost base all matter, and getting them wrong usually means paying tax twice on the same shares. Send it through and we will work out where it lands.

Yes. Venues and shops in the CBD bring a particular mix of casual rosters, penalty rates, high staff turnover and tight margins. Payroll and BAS have to be reliable, and since 1 July 2026 super has to reach the fund within seven business days of each pay run rather than quarterly.
